The challenge
The Ivy opened in London’s West Street in 1917, and The Ivy Collection now runs restaurants across the UK and Ireland. Its gift cards run on Toggle, which already handled redemption in the restaurants.
Online, The Ivy sells through its own Shopify store. It wanted guests to buy gift cards and shop products in one basket and to pay with a gift card online, in a journey that looks and feels like The Ivy from start to finish.
Solution
One basket, one checkout, in The Ivy’s own style.
We integrated Toggle with The Ivy’s Shopify store. Guests can choose a fixed amount, an experience or a value of their own, for delivery by email or post, and gift cards sit in the same basket as the rest of the shop.
At checkout, guests can enter a Toggle code, see its balance and split the payment between a gift card and a bank card. The set-up handles pounds and euros and treats VAT on gift cards correctly.
Every change follows The Ivy’s brand guidelines. We shared designs for approval before building, tested purchase, redemption, part payment and error states across browsers and devices, and handed over documentation to The Ivy’s team after launch.
