Field & Flower: Magento to Shopify in three months
Superco moved Field & Flower, a UK free-range meat box business, from Magento to Shopify Plus and Recharge in three months.

Key facts
| Client | Sector | Platform | Services | Launched |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Field & Flower | Free-range meat, food and drink | Shopify Plus | Migration, subscription build, client UAT fixes | October 2026 |
The short answer
- The problem: Field & Flower ran on Magento and needed to move to Shopify and Recharge without losing its subscription model.
- The move: a Recharge-backed box builder, a subscriber account area and a checkout check on existing subscribers.
- The result: the client reports higher conversion to subscription and better subscriber retention since launch.
- The timeline: three months from start to launch.
The challenge
Field & Flower ran on Magento. It sells weekly and fortnightly boxes that customers fill themselves, and a Christmas range sold once rather than on subscription. The Your Box catalogue alone runs to 361 products.
Moving to Shopify Plus and Recharge meant carrying that model across intact. That meant a box builder over the full range, a place for subscribers to manage their box, and protection against a subscriber starting a second box by accident. The store also had to keep taking orders through the cutover.

What we did
We migrated the store from Magento to Shopify Plus, carried customers and order history across, and set up Recharge for subscriptions.
The box builder sits on Recharge's bundle tools. Customers add items from category collections, see a running total with the subscription discount applied, and check out as a subscription or a one-off. Subscribers edit the same box in place.
Recharge returns at most 250 products per collection, and the Christmas range held 315 in one collection. The 65 products beyond the limit had no price or image in the builder. We split the range into 11 category collections, each under 250, and attached them all to the bundle.
Subscribers get a manage-your-box page. It shows the box contents, the next delivery date and a breakdown of subtotal, discount, shipping and total taken from Recharge's upcoming charge. The account page lists each order with its delivery date, read from an order metafield, beside the order date.
To stop duplicate subscriptions, we wrote a Shopify checkout validation, a Function. Functions on Plus cannot call outside services, so it reads a flag on the customer record. A small relay on Vercel keeps that flag in line with Recharge's subscription events and matches customers by exact email. In testing, a guest checkout with an existing subscriber's email showed the block message and a link to the manage-your-box page. That let us remove the forced sign-in step before checkout.
We then worked through the client's UAT list. It covered mobile layout, carousels, load-more on collection pages and delivery dates.
Results
Superco delivered the migration in three months, and the store launched in October 2026. James Mansfield, Field & Flower's owner and CEO, reports that conversion to subscription has started to rise and that subscriber retention has improved since launch.
We're really happy with the migration and Shopify. We're seeing conversion to subscription tick up already and improved Subscriber retention. Thank you so much.
