Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions brands ask us most before they start a project: who we are, how we work, what happens after launch, and how we handle Shopify Plus, migrations and integrations.
Working with Superco
Who is Superco?
We are a Shopify Platinum Partner based in London. We design, build and grow Shopify and Shopify Plus stores for brands in the UK and abroad, including Represent, Allbirds, Ceva and LSA International.
How big is the team?
We are a team of 33 people, all employed by Superco and working in-house. We do not outsource design or development.
Who will we work with day to day?
Every client has a dedicated account manager, who runs the project and is your first point of contact. Behind them is the design, development and growth team working on your store.
What kinds of brands do you work with?
Direct-to-consumer and B2B brands in health and wellness, fashion, home and interiors, food and drink, beauty and pet care, from new launches to established international businesses. See our case studies.
Do you work with brands outside the UK?
Yes. We have worked with brands in North America, Europe and Asia, including Allbirds in Canada and South Korea, Ursa Major and Brinks Home in the US, and Ceva across eight countries.
Can you work alongside our in-house team or other agencies?
Yes. We often work with in-house ecommerce and marketing teams, and with brand agencies. For Schplendid we worked alongside the branding agency Big Fish. We can also train your team to run the store themselves after launch.
Cost and contracts
How much does a project cost?
It depends on the scope of work, so we do not publish prices. We agree the scope with you first, usually after a Customer Experience Strategy workshop, and then price that scope.
Do you work on projects or retainers?
Both. Builds, migrations and redesigns are usually run as projects. After launch, most clients move to a growth retainer covering development, conversion testing, SEO and email.
Who owns the code?
You do. The theme, custom code and anything else we build for your store belong to you.
What are your contract terms?
They are agreed with each brand, based on what the work needs. We do not fix notice periods or minimum terms in advance.
Timelines
How long does a Shopify project take?
It depends on scope. We moved LSA International from Magento to Shopify in six weeks, and launched Schplendid, a new sofa brand, in two months. A full redesign with several system integrations takes longer.
Can you work to a fixed launch date?
Yes, if we agree what must be ready for launch and what can follow. LSA's move had to finish before its old platform contract ended over Christmas trading. Suki Tea's new site launched in time for its November sale.
How does a project start?
Usually with a Customer Experience Strategy workshop. We learn what your customers need and what the business wants, then agree the scope, plan and timeline before design starts.
Support after launch
What support do you offer after launch?
Your account manager stays with you after launch. Each client also has a shared Slack channel with our team. We reply to urgent issues within a couple of hours during the working week.
Do you offer ongoing development and growth work?
Yes. Our growth retainer covers new features, fixes, conversion testing, SEO and email, planned with you each month.
Can you take over a store another agency built?
Yes. We review the code first and fix structural problems before adding anything new. We did this for London Nootropics before starting a programme of A/B tests.
Shopify and Shopify Plus
What does Shopify Platinum Partner mean?
Platinum is the top tier of the Shopify Partner Program. Shopify awards it on the volume and quality of the merchant work a partner delivers.
Do we need Shopify Plus?
Not always. Shopify Plus suits brands with high order volumes, B2B customers, several countries or brands, or custom checkout needs. If none of those apply, a standard Shopify plan is often enough, and we will say so. See Shopify Plus agency.
Do you work with standard Shopify plans as well as Shopify Plus?
Yes. Many of our clients are on Shopify Plus, but we also build and support stores on Shopify's standard plans.
Do you build custom apps?
Yes, when an app from the Shopify App Store does not fit. We built a native manga reader for Monsters We Make, a personalisation app for Guinness World Records and a recommendation quiz for Years.
Can you build B2B and wholesale stores?
Yes. We have built B2B and trade stores for Funkin Cocktails, Kopparberg, Naturaw and Ceva.
Migrations
Which platforms can you migrate us from?
Magento and Adobe Commerce, WooCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Visualsoft, custom builds and headless set-ups. See Shopify migration and headless to native Shopify.
Will we lose our search rankings when we migrate?
Not if the migration is planned properly. We map every old URL to its new address with 301 redirects, carry over titles, descriptions and structured data, and check rankings after launch.
What data moves to Shopify?
Products, collections, customers, order history, blog posts and pages. Customer passwords cannot move between platforms, so we plan how customers will log in after launch.
Apps, integrations and marketing
Which partners do you work with?
We are an official partner of Klaviyo, Recharge, Gorgias, Yotpo and Sage, and work with integration partners such as High Cohesion.
Can you connect Shopify to our ERP and other systems?
Yes. We have connected Shopify to Kerridge, Sage and NetSuite, and to warehouse, delivery and subscription systems.
Do you run email and subscriptions?
Yes. We set up and run Klaviyo and design and build subscription programmes on Recharge.
Do you do SEO?
Yes, technical SEO and content. For Milamend, ranking keywords rose 321% and organic traffic 13% within three months.
Have a question we have not answered?
Tell us about your brand and what you need. Your question goes to the team, not a sales script.
