The challenge
Design Director Lisa Beaumont founded Powder in 2009. The family-run, woman-owned business designs scarves, kimonos, bags, hats and gifts in Scotland, and sells them through more than 2,500 shops across the UK, the US and Europe as well as online.
Powder runs two businesses on one site: shoppers buying the latest collection, and shops placing wholesale and pre-orders. The site had to serve both, in several countries, and fit the way US retailers already order.
Solution
One site for shoppers and wholesale buyers, connected to the US.
We started with a customer experience strategy, looking at how both shoppers and wholesale buyers use the site and what each needs from it.
We then built Powder a new Shopify site, with the season’s collections up front and separate wholesale areas for UK and EU buyers, including pre-orders for the next season. International markets and warehouses let it sell and ship across the UK, Europe and the US.
Powder’s US wholesale customers order through MarketTime, so we built a custom connector between MarketTime and Shopify that brings those orders into Powder’s store.

- A custom connector between MarketTime and Shopify for US wholesale orders
- A retainer for nearly two years, with ongoing development
